Chairman’s Letter

Supporting Our Sport

We and Sport England are being told that our sport is dying. This is not the case in Warwickshire with fantastic facilities, vibrant clubs and great coaches. Squash 57 is a lifeline for clubs to introduce a fantastic new sport and accomodate ageing players. Yet figures for affiliation do not reflect this picture. Although the recent increase in fees do not encourage accurate terms we surely need to be finding ways to remedy this picture.

Does your club run courses for:

  • Juniors?
  • Squash 57?
  • Ladies?
  • Squash 101

If so please could you enter figures (even retrospectovely) on the England Squash App. Details of which can be found here.

WHY? Please consider:

  1. To advertise what a great job your club is doing
  2. To accurately reflect the number of people playing our great sport
  3. To show that Warwickshire is one of the premier counties
  4. To ensure development funds are allocated by Sport England

Your committee is happy to pay you for administrative work.

Safeguarding

It is vital that our coaches are completely covered in this regard. Head coaches must ensure that all coaches:

  • Are ES registered
  • Have a current DBS
  • Have a first aid qualification
  • Have attended a safeguarding course

It is essential we are not complacent in this matter. If you have any comments ot suggestions please feel free to ring me (Nigel Orrett) on 0121 610 0000.
