Perry Wins British Ladies Title, Makin Takes Silver

Sarah-Jane Perry beat training partner Jasmine Hutton in straight games to win her second British senior title at Nottingham University. Perry was made to work hard in her quarter and semi final matches against Julianne Courtice and Millie Tomlinson, needing 5 games in each to progress.

Each game in the final was close, but Perry’s expereince told at the business end as she closed out each one.

Round 1 – Beat Kiera Marshall (Eng) 11-4, 11-3, 11-3 (19 mins)

Quarter Final – Beat Julianne Courtice (Eng) 6-11, 11-9, 6-11, 11-6, 11-4 (47 mins)

Semi Final – Beat Millie Tomlinson (Eng) 11-9, 9-11, 11-6, 6-11, 11-7 (60 mins)

Final – Beat Jasmine Hutton (Eng) 11-9, 11-9, 11-9 (35 mins)

Joel Makin also has an impressive week as he reached the final before losing out in a thrilling contest against former world number one James Willstrop. Makin took out Scotland’s Alan Clyne and Englishman Adrian Waller on his way to the final.

The final was desperately close with Willstrop holding on in the fourth game to take the match 3-1.
